See Inside Chip and Joanna Gaines’ New Coffee Shop—Coming To Waco This Fall!
Dr. Pepper has been one of the most popular drinks in the United States for a while now. What most people don’t know is that it originated in Texas near the city of Waco and there is an entire museum dedicated to the history of its creation. For a fun day of exploring the company’s begginings and enjoying their delicious treats, head over to the Dr. Pepper Museum.
The museum is located at 300 S 5th St in Waco and has so much different memorabilia that even collectors would be jealous. Dr. Pepper is the star attraction of the museum but other drinks like 7up and Big Red have honorable mentions in there as well. The building of the museum was originally a bottling plant from 1906.
When taking the museum tour, you will be able to sit in on a Liquid Laboratory demonstration that plays on the senses and teaches you how Dr. Pepper is made. You can also visit Frosty’s soda shop for drinks, ice cream and floats. If you happen to be in town but don’t have time to take the tour, you can always stop by the shop free of charge for entry.

Admission to the museum is only $10 and this just year they have begun handing out a free Dr. Pepper when you purchase your ticket to the museum.
On Fridays and Saturdays, you can take a special tour for free with the museum’s staff who will give you an even more in-depth look at the way the drink came to be.

Chip and Joanna Gaines took on a country-home renovation for their friend and colleague, Jimmy Don Holmes, the metalwork artist and owner of JDHIronDesigns.com whose work has played a part in a number of Fixer Upper renovations, as a first time home for their son Jake.
Shortly after renovations started, Jake stumbled upon a home in Valley Mills that he couldn’t pass up. With his future in mind, Jake saw an opportunity and conquered it buying himself a sweet little home a few miles away from Jimmy Don and Lori’s place. Unfortunately, that meant the cabin would be left without an occupant. Knowing that this striking cabin could not be left to waste, Jimmy Don approached Chip and Jo and told them about Jake’s new home. With their blessing, Jimmy Don has decided to open his cabin for short term rentals. He is hoping it will provide some serene views and fun nights away from the business of life and open the doors to help others experience the greatness of this Fixer Upper he was hoping his son would enjoy.

Jimmy Don News!
He has been selling his signs and home decor from a 36-foot-long trailer located in a parking lot near the Gaines’ Magnolia Market. Though he also has another location in Valley Mills, the famous artisan is officially setting up shop in Waco in one of the lot’s surrounding buildings across from Magnolia. Be sure to stop by and tell him Hi!

Jimmy Don Holmes now has a permanent home in Waco, Texas for his business, JDH Iron Designs.
The metal craftsman made famous by Chip and Joanna Gaines’ show, Fixer Upper, has been selling his signs and home decor from a 36-foot-long trailer located in a parking lot near the Gaines’ Magnolia Market. Though he also has another location in Valley Mills, the famous artisan is officially setting up shop in Waco in one of the lot’s surrounding buildings.
Local businesswoman Jill Barrett recently bought the real estate around Jimmy Don’s trailer, which consists of a few buildings and is conveniently located across the street from Magnolia. According to the Waco Tribune-Herald, Barrett plans to transform her holdings into a “shopping, dining, drinking, and relaxing outpost,” starring Jimmy Don’s creations.
Jimmy Don is getting the quite the treatment in his new digs, too. “He will be one of our tenants,” Barrett told the outlet. “He will have his own space attached to Brake & Clutch, with his own storefront, and we will work on preparing his place first.”
Considering he reportedly gets about 400 visitors a day who are interested in browsing his pieces—Joanna particularly loves his signs—we can see why Barrett is “thrilled” to have him on board. Even better, Waco visitors won’t have to wait too long for the shop to open.
“My goal is to have Jimmy Don’s permanent location completed by summer,” she said.
Besides Jimmy Don, Barrett has a slew of other ideas for the project. Her ultimate goal is to add even more reasons to visit Waco outside of Chip and Joanna’s attractions, like the Silos and their Magnolia Table restaurant.
“The economic engine is Magnolia, but I think that neighborhood can become even cooler,” she said. “Two people shouldn’t be responsible for the whole city. There are a lot of creative souls and entrepreneurs here.”
4th annual Silobration closes Waco roads through Saturday
WACO, Texas — Roads surrounding the Magnolia Silos will be closed for the fourth annual Silobration event from Thursday to Saturday.

Waco will host the 2018 Nautique USA Wakesurf National Championships on the Brazos River September 28-30. The competition is being sponsored by The World Wake Association (WWA) and Nautique Boat Company.
“We are excited to announce this national event that will showcase our downtown river yet again,” said Will Phipps, director of the Greater Waco Sports Commission. “We are proud to partner with the World Wakesurf Association and the creator of the world’s best ski and wake boat, the Nautique Boat Company. They chose Waco in large part because of the positive energy that is overflowing in our downtown districts.”
Wakeboarding is a surface water sport with a boat towing a rider on a wakeboard. A wakeboard is a small, thin board developed from a combination of water skiing, snowboarding and surfing. The board is usually towed around 20 mph, and the intent is to use the board to ride the wake created by the boat. In the Waco competition, the boat used to tow the board is the Super Air Nautique G23, a boat designed specifically for skiing purposes.
The competition is rider-developed and will feature one discipline that combines skim and surf styles. There will be a professional and an amateur division for the competition, with the pros competing for $30,000 in prize money.
The event will also feature an exclusive beach party at BSR Surf Resort, offering food, music and opportunities to try out the surfing at the resort.

Here’s everything we know about Chip and Joanna’s latest business, opening soon.

It’s already been an exciting year for Chip and Joanna Gaines. Their fifth and final season of Fixer Upper is currently airing on HGTV, they just announced they’re expecting baby number five, and now, the couple is about to open their latest business venture: a restaurant! The hosts have been busy renovating the former Elite Cafe, a popular Waco eatery, into Magnolia Table.
Your favorite design duo’s empire already includes Magnolia Reality, Magnolia Market at the Silos, Silos Baking Co., two inns (the Magnolia House and Hillcrest Estate), and Joanna’s Magnolia Home collection. A restaurant is something new to the team, but they’re not taking it lightly.
“People always say the restaurant business is a beast—and we believe that, we aren’t naive to the fact that this is all new to us—but we are genuinely thrilled that we get the opportunity to restore a Waco treasure into something new,” Joanna wrote in a June update on the Magnolia Market blog. Here’s everything we know about Chip and Joanna’s restaurant so far (plus a first look at the inside):
Magnolia Table will open soon.
Originally, Magnolia Table was supposed to open by the end of 2017. But Joanna revealed that there were “a few setbacks along the way (as there are with every construction project).” Thankfully, they’re now “on the home stretch!”
Though no exact opening date has been announced yet, Joanna teased in a January Instagram caption that Magnolia Table “is getting so close” and “will be open soon.” We know one detail to look out for if you ever get a chance to go: Chip and Jo’s handprints in the cement outside!
Chip recently reiterated that “Construction is wrapping up at the restaurant and we’ll be opening the doors to Magnolia Table soon.”
